What Makes a Good Leader?

That’s my face when a leader makes these 2 mistakes. I think it actually hurts my heart ❤️.

S what makes a good leader? As a leader, you should always want your people/team to grow. Growing people is a great recipe for a growing business. When people feel fulfilled in their personal life, they work harder in other areas of their life. The number one mistake/thing, in my book, is to withhold information. That is, deciding what is best for the people on your team without their input.

Now in business, this can happen many different ways. Most leaders want their teams and people to succeed. But sometimes, those same leaders don’t want to be out run in the race 🏁. So they give you running shoes, but not the ones they’re wearing. They give you some information but not all of it. They make decisions for you instead of allowing you to make your own. These are leaders are the ones that decide for you.

A good leader doesn’t fear personal growth in the members of their team. Instead they want what’s best for them and want them to grow. They provide them with the information they need to make informed decisions. Holding back others, is not a form of leadership. Nor is watching them struggle. Leaders may not always have the right answers but they are life learners look for ways to grow.

Instead provide them with the tools and information they need to succeed.

Another thing a leader should never do is divide their team or use members of the team against one another.  Every member/individual on your team is important integral part of your team. Each has something unique to offer.

The old saying “divide and conquer” is typically a strategy to gain or maintain power. If a team is divided, they fall apart. Even the best teams fail when they don’t have a leader that leads by utilizing communication within the team.

Effective leaders also recognize the uniqueness that each member brings to the table. They build relationships amongst their team and communicate. They also consider themselves as a part of that team, and not above it.

Instead show them how to work together and respect each other’s individuality.
As a leader, it is your responsibility to support your team and each individual within it. As I said before, growing people =  a growing businesses.
